AI Weekly Digest #8 — The Week Governments Took Over the AI Race

Dec 1, 2025LinkedIn1 min read

Not a week about benchmark bragging or flashy demos. A week about power. About budgets and procurement. About the moment governments officially became the largest customers in AI.

America's Genesis Mission, AWS dropping $50B on government AI, Anthropic claiming the best-in-class title for code and agents with Opus 4.5, OpenAI making its move into shopping, and the first federal law specifically targeting AI-generated fraud — landing within hours of each other isn't coincidence. It's the moment "model supremacy" gives way to "AI procurement supremacy." The conversation in capitals is no longer "who built the smartest thing." It's "who can the state actually buy from at scale, under what oversight, with what audit trail."
